Getting Started

  • Look for someone who feels safe, curious, and affirming. You might read bios, schedule a consultation, or trust your gut. The right fit is about more than credentials—it’s about connection and comfort.

  • That’s completely normal! Starting therapy is a vulnerable and courageous step. Share your nervousness with your therapist—they’ll meet you with warmth and understanding, never pressure.

  • That’s okay—emotions are welcome here. Your therapist will hold space with compassion and support. It’s often a sign that healing is happening.

  • That’s totally okay, too. Your therapist will gently guide the conversation and help you find a starting point. Some of the most meaningful insights come from open-ended exploration.

  • Absolutely. Therapy is for more than just “problems”—it’s a powerful space for clarity, creativity, purpose, and growth. We’re here for your evolution, not just your struggles.

  • We understand how hard that can be. It’s okay to take things slowly and to name your hesitations. We're here to rebuild that trust—on your terms.

  • It’s simple—just reach out through our contact form or call us. We’ll answer your questions and walk you through the next steps with care. You can also check out our Therapy Quick Start guide.

  • You can schedule an appointment by filling out the contact form or by giving us a call directly. We’ll reach out to set up a time that works best for you and answer any initial questions you may have.

  • Yes! We provide secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions so you can meet with your therapist from the comfort of your home. Virtual therapy is just as effective and can offer more flexibility for busy schedules.

  • We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be subject to a fee, as that time is reserved just for you.

  • Most therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and occur weekly, especially in the beginning. As therapy progresses, some clients move to biweekly sessions depending on their goals and progress.

  • Yes, we offer limited evening and weekend slots to help accommodate your schedule. Availability varies by therapist, so feel free to inquire about your preferred times.

  • Of course! We offer complimentary 15-minute phone consultations to help you get a feel for the therapist and ask any questions before scheduling your first session.

  • You’re always welcome to pause and return to therapy as needed. Life is full of seasons, and we honor your timing. We’ll support you in taking breaks in a way that feels intentional and grounded.

Appointments & Scheduling

  • Yes, your privacy is incredibly important to us. Everything shared in therapy stays between you and your therapist, with very few exceptions.

  • The only exceptions involve safety. If there is risk of harm to yourself or others, or if there is abuse of a vulnerable person, therapists are legally required to take steps to ensure safety.

  • We use secure, encrypted platforms for communication and record-keeping. Your information is stored in compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect your privacy.

  • Yes, you have the right to request your records at any time. Your therapist can help you understand what’s included and how to request access.

  • Absolutely. All therapists at Resilient Minds follow strict ethical guidelines set by their licensing boards and professional associations. Your safety and dignity are always prioritized.

  • Yes. This is your space, and you are welcome to bring anything to your sessions—no topic is off-limits. Therapy is a judgment-free zone where you can explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly.

  • Only if you choose to tell them. Your attendance and engagement in therapy are completely private unless you give written consent to share information with someone (like another provider).

Privacy, Confidentiality, & Ethics

  • Each session is a little different depending on where you are in your journey, but generally, we’ll explore the thoughts, feelings, and patterns that are showing up for you. You can bring in what’s been on your mind, and your therapist may gently guide you with questions or techniques tailored to your needs.

  • Sometimes, yes—if it feels helpful for you. This could look like journaling, mindfulness exercises, or trying a new coping skill. Think of it as an invitation, not an obligation. The goal is to deepen your growth outside of the therapy room.

  • Therapy progress isn’t always linear, but you might notice feeling more self-aware, less reactive, or more hopeful. We regularly check in together to assess how you’re feeling and whether adjustments are needed. It’s a team effort.

  • That’s something we can explore together. Sometimes therapy takes a little time to click, and sometimes a shift in approach (or even therapist) is needed. Your growth matters to us—we’ll have open conversations about what’s working and what’s not.

  • Yes, our therapists are trained in trauma-informed care. We create a gentle, safe space to help you process trauma at a pace that feels respectful and empowering.

  • We value each client’s unique background and lived experience. Our therapists are committed to culturally responsive care and always approach your identity and story with respect, openness, and humility.

  • We believe healing isn’t about becoming someone else—it’s about coming home to yourself. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but with compassion, support, and intention, we believe growth is always possible.
